Karunattu ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web services (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password.
• Profile Data: Your preferred Sa (tonic) frequency, default instrument, and practice preferences.
• Practice Data: Practice session recordings, pitch drift measurements, raga mastery progress, and streak data.

2.2 Microphone Access

Karunattu requests access to your device's microphone for the following features:

• Real-time pitch detection during practice sessions
• Rāga identification from live audio
• Voice analysis and feedback in Voice Coach
• Overdub recording in the Compose Studio
• Self-review recording and playback

Audio data is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. Only derived pitch data (frequency in Hz, cents deviation, swara name) is synced to your account if you opt into cloud sync.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Analytics: Feature usage, session duration, and app performance metrics (anonymized).
• Device Information: Device model, iOS version, and app version for crash reporting.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain the Service
• Track your practice progress and streaks
• Personalize your learning experience
• Send practice reminders (if enabled)
• Improve the app through anonymized analytics
• Process subscription payments via Apple's StoreKit

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Karunattu offers three tiers: Free (Śiṣya), Plus (Sādhaka), and Pro (Kalākar). Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Practice data is stored locally on your device using Core Data.
• If you sign in, practice data is synced to our secure servers using encrypted connections (TLS 1.3).
• Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, never in plain text.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchases and subscriptions
• Apple Push Notifications: For practice reminders (only if you grant permission)

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties.

7. Data Retention

• Local data persists on your device until you delete the app or clear data.
• Cloud-synced data is retained as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Karunattu does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

9. Your Rights

• Access: You can view all your data within the app.
• Export: You can export your practice data from Settings.
• Delete: You can delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
• Opt Out: You can disable analytics and notifications in Settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
